Productivity Tech Tip # 1: Dropbox

Posted on

dropboxMost of us in full time ministry have more than one computer.  In fact, we will have a computer at the office, one at home, and maybe a notebook computer, iPad, iPhone, Android or Blackberry Smartphones.  Wouldn’t it be great to have files that would sync and be accessible from all of these devices?

I discovered Dropbox over a year ago.  I have thrown just about everything at it and it works easily and flawlessly.  It is installed on every electronic device I use (completely a cross-platform program).  The last two courses I have written I kept in Dropbox.  I have two current books on it and all my sermon notes dating all the way back to 2001!  They are always available if I am at the office, home or on the road.

Another great thing about Dropbox is that an account with 2 GIG is FREE.  I have all this information on it in Word (several thousand files) and I am only using 5% of my space.  Larger space is available for a nominal monthly fee.

If this sounds like something you would use, click on the link below to sign up for your free account.

ACI On-Site Inspection Completed

Posted on

Arrived at our office at 6:00am yesterday to prepare for Dr. Scheel’s arrival. I always prefer to be over prepared for such visits. Dr. Scheel arrived around noon and we spent the afternoon going through the self-study report, student records, resource materials, and curriculum. It was a good and thorough (making sure everything was up to ACI standards). We are now good for another seven years with ACI. My thanks goes out to all that helped support this visit.

I always enjoy talking with someone that understands the educational process, has a passion for excellence, and (of course) loves the Lord! We were both able to share some “old soldier” war stories in Christian education.

Most of you know that I tend to be a “tech head,” which allows me to drive productivity through the roof at BLCS. During our discussion yesterday, I discovered there is so much available that I use on a daily based that most ministers do not know about. I plan on introducing to you in upcoming posts several cross-platform programs that makes life so much easier! I showed just one of them to Dr. Scheel yesterday that will make his on-site visit documentation so much easier. So be looking for them after I get back in the office next week!

Jesus & the Prophetic Significance of the Feast of Dedication

Most believers seem to drive right by the Feast of Dedication (or Hanukkah) not realizing that it has powerful prophetic significance to the New Testament Church and Jesus directly links it to “hearing His voice” in John 10:22-30.

You will find that today most believers listen more to the voice of the Greek King Antiochus Epiphanes than they do the Word of God!  This is a real eye-opener for modern Christians!  We will become the sheep that only listen to the voice of Messiah – the Good Shepherd or are we listening to the voice of another?
