What Sets Biblical Life College and Seminary Apart from the Other Online Seminaries?

What Sets Biblical Life College and Seminary Apart from the Other Online Seminaries?

BLCS was founded in 1982 with the following vision:

  • To provide the same quality theological education that ministers receive in a traditional setting through distance learning.
  • To use internationally accepted academic standards to ensure our students are fully prepared to meet the challenges they face in ministry.
  • To provide curriculum that is not only academically sound, but on the cutting-edge prophetically – while maintaining a biblical balance.
  • To always operate the seminary as a ministry and not as a business. (To ensure a proper balance of professionalism and compassion.)

What You Will Find at BLCS

You will discover solid theological programs that adhere to established academic standards to ensure you receive the properly training for the ministry. Our curriculum always provides the proper balance of studies within the given major of the degree. It has never been about the number of graduates or how quickly we can run our students through our programs. It has always been about ensuring that each and every student is well-trained, and has developed the theological/ministerial proficiency required for the degree he/she earned.

What You Will Not Find at BLCS

You will not find sloppy academic standards that treat the educational process of our students as if our degree programs were offered at some internet flea market. Our courses are designed with the workload of a traditional semester credit hour. Our bachelor degrees require a full 120 semester credit hours, and our Master of Divinity degrees require the proper 90 semester credit hours. You will not find graduates with degrees that have not completed an adequate number of courses within their major. All graduate and doctoral programs require the proper thesis or dissertation.

The BLCS Difference in Found in Our Students

Many of our graduates go on into successful ministry; whether it is becoming a successful pastor, bishop, or published author. Our students are empowered through the proper training for ministry, while being transformed by the power of God through our curriculum. Our graduates use both the personal transformation and depth of understanding of scripture to impact their communities and the world.

Our Long History

We have been training aspirants of the Gospel ministry since 1982. In our history, that stretches over three decades, there has not been one legitimate complaint ever registered against our seminary. This is one of the reasons we have an “A+” rating with the Better Business Bureau as well as receiving the designation of “Accredited Comprehensive Member” from the Accrediting Commission International.

The Master of Divinity Program

Posted on Updated on

master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity Degree

In the academic study of theology, the Master of Divinity (M.Div., magister divinitatis in Latin) is the first professional degree of the pastoral profession in North America.1 The Master of Divinity is designed for those that have already completed a secular undergraduate degree and then are called to ministry.

The length of the Master of Divinity degree ranges from 72 semester credit hours to 106, depending upon the major area of study and the seminary offering the degree. The average (and most acceptable) length of the Master of Divinity is 90 semester credit hours. Although a few seminaries will allow graduation without the development of a thesis, this practice is not the historical norm. Any graduate program with less than 72 semester credit hours would not be considered a legitimate Master of Divinity degree in America or Europe.

At BLCS, we believe that at least 90 semester credit hours is necessary in the Master of Divinity Program. A full three-year program of student is required for providing a well-balanced professional education for those called to ministry. Our emphasis is in the knowledge and skill gain through solid, biblical academics that makes the difference, not a degree hanging on the wall!

At Biblical Life College and Seminary, we offer three Master of Divinity Programs designed for Spirit-filled aspirants of the Gospel ministry:

●   Master of Divinity

●   Master of Divinity in Biblical Counseling

●   Master of Divinity in Hebraic Heritage Studies

All three M.Div. Program will allow graduates to proceed into either the Doctor of Theology or Doctor of Ministry Programs.

Note: In North America, all Doctor of Divinity degrees are considered honorary and hold no academic value. In Europe, the Doctor of Divinity is equivalent to our Doctor of Theology degree.
